About JTAE
The Journal of Tropical Agroecology (JTAE) creates synergies among research, policy and practice in tropical agroecological systems.

Our Journal
The Journal of Tropical Agroecology (JTAE) is a peer-reviewed, open-access publication dedicated to advancing knowledge in tropical agroecological systems. Established at Uganda Martyrs University, our journal serves as a platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to share innovative findings and sustainable solutions.
Agroecology is presently defined as integrated approaches that bring sustainability to ecological, economic, and social dimensions of the food system. JTAE seeks to optimize the interactions between plants, animals, humans and the environment while considering the social aspects needed for a sustainable and fair food system.
In the past two decades, research in the field of agroecology has grown steadily in tropical regions. JTAE was created to fill a gap in the academic space by providing a dedicated platform for tropical agroecology research.
Scope & Focus
JTAE focuses on agroecology, livelihoods, and agri-food systems with a broad scope covering:
- Ecological organic agriculture concepts and practices
- Climate-smart practices research
- Agroecosystem management and resilience
- Gender-responsive agroecology
- Integrated management systems
- Education for sustainable development
The journal welcomes articles across the entire continuum from prevention and preparedness through to response, recovery and development. Special editions may focus on specific topics as determined by the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board.
